En el cuello Quetzalcoatl lleva una concha la misma que en el relato se dice que lleva y la cual Mictlatecuhtli le pide que haga resonar 3 veces; pidiendo Quetzalcoatl a sus amigos los gusanos y las abejas ayudarle en esta tarea. Y por lo cual posiblemente este usando la máscara de Ehecatl, dios del viento.
Por último la superficie donde estan parados ambos dioses, a mi visión es una manera de representar Mictlan.
